The North Carolina Association for Biomedical Research (NCABR) is a nonprofit science education organization whose mission is to provide support for and promote public understanding of bioscience research.
NCABR supports PERSIST by enlisting local scientists to provide guest lectures and by participating in the development of participants’ professional networks, as well as identifying bioscience education and career resources participants may want to access.
Duke Human Vaccine Institute (DHVI)
In 1990, the DHVI was formed to support interdisciplinary efforts across Duke University to develop vaccines and therapeutics for HIV and other emerging infections that threaten the health of our nation and our world. Since 1990, DHVI investigators have been at the forefront in the battle against AIDS and specifically in the quest for an HIV vaccine. Today, DHVI is a unique organization that comprises an interdisciplinary interdepartmental research institute within Duke University. Its investigators are dedicated to solving major societal problems that affect millions of people globally. They are committed to performing world-class basic and translational science and also to building the next generation of scientific leaders.
